Police started setting up checkpoint at the Zhenhua Road Tunnel at 10 o'clock last night. An hour later they stopped a driver with alcohol on his breath.
The driver underwent a breathalyzer test and was released when his results showed his blood-alcohol level was below the limit.
Police say drunk drivers will have their drivers' license suspended for at least six months, and face a fine of more than 1,000 yuan. Those guilty of drunk driving face tougher punishment. They will have their license revoked, and be taken into custody. Police say during the past two weeks, very few were caught violating the laws.
【讲解】文中的drunk driver就是“酒驾者”的意思，其中drunk用作形容词，意为“醉酒的”，如：The drunk man lost his pouch in the bar.（那个喝醉了的人在酒吧里丢了钱袋。）
第二段中的breathalyzer test意为“呼吸测试”，如：Police said he refused to take a breathalyzer test.（警方称，他拒绝呼吸测试。）
The accident is charged on that drunk driver.
