A number of mainland students who recently took the IELTS exam have been left scratching their heads, as their results have been delayed or cancelled for unspecified reasons.
Wang Xin, a college student in Beijing who took the test on August 1, received a text message saying that her scores would be on hold as the testing authority was conducting a routine review.
But in September, she received an email saying that her results would never be released due to a violation of regulations.

Drug-smuggling is a serious crime.(走私毒品是严重的罪行。)
We've put the project on hold for a month.(我们把这个计划暂时搁置一个月。)

They said they had solid evidence that the scores did not reflect the test-takers' real level.
