Move over Zeddie Little and meet Maddie, who's not just possibly the world's most photogenic dog, but definitely obedient.
In what's taking root as a modern day John Steinbeck novel, swapping out Travels with Charley: In Search of America, comes MADDIE THE COONHOUND: a super serious project about dogs and physics.
Theron Humphrey, of Atlanta, Georgia, has spent the last 287 days touring the United States with his shelter-rescued dog Maddie who has an impeccable knack for balance and obedience.
Placing Maddie in some of the most unsuspecting places, as well as acrobatic - for dog or human - the photographer has captured Maddie in most scenarios posing stiff as a board, similar to the recent human craze called planking.
'Maddie is a lighthearted pause to my daily life,' said Mr Humphrey, speaking to Wired.com.
Over time, or 46,425 miles to be exact by Sunday, according to his travel map on This Wild Idea, he's captured at least 100 images of Maddie standing on signs - tall and thin - shopping carts - some on, not in - and even a dinosaur, horse and two dead birds.
'Over time she has learned when I pick her up, I want her to stay,' said Mr Humphrey, adding of his dog's knowledge that if she obeys she'll get a treat.
The duo has been traveling since August 31 of 2011 with an expected end date of August 31 this year.
His final destination, according to his travel map, will be Hawaii, from July 21 to August 31 in what looks to be his longest stop, for possibly obvious reasons.
'One morning I woke up, and decided I needed [to] use photography to connect with folks and tell their story,' he explains the reasoning for his journey on his website.
While photographing the people he meets, and retelling their stories on his website, photographing Mattie has just been an added bonus.
'The Maddie images evolved organically, I suppose like a lot of good things in life do,' he said.
It's said it's one that could possibly fall into its own travel book, published by Chronicle books, separate from the human interviews he's doing now.
Until then, follow Maddie and see more of her photos at his website: maddieonthings.com
