A new report predicts China will be spending more on defense by 2015 than all other Asia Pacific countries combined.The study published Tuesday by the security firm IHS Jane's says China spent nearly $120 billion on defense last year. It says that figure is expected to almost double to $238 billion by 2015, as China modernizes its fighter jets and other military equipment.
That would be more than four times as much as second-placed Japan is projected to spend on its military. China has steadily increased its military budget as the its gross domestic product has increased in recent years. But the report said Beijing's military budget is expected to grow at a substantially higher rate than its GDP over the next three years.
